Police charged Dan Hegarty, 39, of 6003 Pratt Street in Alexandria with indecent liberties with a child under the age of 15 in reference to the Nov. 10 incident at Spring Hill Recreation Center.
Hegarty turned himself in at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on Tuesday, Nov. 25 around 5 p.m. He was identified with the assistance from the public after flyers and a composite sketch were distributed. Anyone that may have had similar contact with this suspect is asked to contact police at (703) 691-2131.
Man Approaches Child in Locker Room
Police are investigating a report of an 8-year-old McLean boy that was approached and touched by a naked man in the locker room of the Spring Hill Recreation Center at 8:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10.
The child had gone to change after swimming, when a man allegedly approached him and touched him in a sexual manner. The child reported the incident to his parents later that evening. The victim was not injured.
The suspect is described as approximately 6 feet tall, slender, in his late 30′s with a tanned or olive-toned complexion.
