On Wednesday, Oct. 22, shop at any of the seven Whole Foods Market stores in Northern Virginia, and 5% of the day’s sales will benefit Empowered Women International’s educational, cultural and entrepreneurial programs. Participating Whole Foods stores include Alexandria, Arlington, Reston, Springfield, Falls Church, Vienna and Fair Lakes. All stores will host an international food tasting between 5 and 7 p.m. to celebrate the cause. Come shop on Oct. 22, meet our artists and supporters, and invest in our cause!
Empowered Women International is an Alexandria-based organization that fosters empowerment and entrepreneurship for immigrant, refugee and culturally diverse women and communities, and creates sustainable livelihoods through the arts. The organization works with talented yet low-income or unemployed creative women, and artists’ families in Alexandria and the Greater Washington region, and teaches them how to transform talents and cultural assets into new businesses. “Our artists are passionate and talented women entrepreneurs. They are capable of turning artistic abilities into functional and fine art, and only need help and guidance to promote their work and establish new contacts in the art market,” says Marga Fripp, EWI President.
EWI’s artists give back and further empower our communities by providing art healing, art marketing and art education programs to children and disadvantaged communities throughout the region.
