Longtime City advocate and volunteer Elsie Virginia Tucker Thomas passed away in Arlington on Friday, Octo. 24, 2008. The sister of Alexandria’s famed civil rights attorney, Samuel Tucker, Thomas, 88, was the former president of the Sunnyside Neighborhood Association and from 1954-65 was the president of Hopkins House.
Thomas is survived by her children, William Thomas, and the reverend Deborah Thomas Campbell, her grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
The service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 11 a.m. at the Zion Baptist Church, 714 South Lee Street, Alexandria.
