Following a long-standing presidential tradition, President George W. Bush attended a service at  Christ   Church on Sunday, December 21.

President Bush; his wife, Laura; his brother, Marvin; his sister-in-law, Margaret, and Secretary of Education, Margaret Spellings sat in the historic George Washington pew. The Rev. Pierce Klemmt, rector of Christ Church, noted that President and Mrs. Bush were sitting in the same seats occupied by Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Winston Churchill on January 1, 1942 when they were at Christ Church to observe the World Day of Prayer for Peace. Rev. Klemmt thanked the President for his efforts toward the same.

Rev. Klemmt was pleased by the President’s visit saying, “We are honored to have the President and Mrs. Bush worship with us and to add their prayers to ours especially as we enter Christmas and the time when we think of other’s needs.”
