The Alexandria Volleyball Club (AVC) will be holding its 2009 travel season tryouts on Nov. 16th and Nov. 23rd from 5:30-8:00 pm at Bishop Ireton High School. Bishop Ireton is located at 201 Cambridge Road, Alexandria, VA 22314.
Nov. 16th: U16 (Players born on or after Sept. 1, 1992) 5:30 – 8:00 p.m.
Nov. 23rd: U15 (Players born on or after Sept. 1, 1993) 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.
U13 (Players born on or after Sept. 1, 1995) 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.
AVC plays within the Chesapeake Region of the USA-Volleyball’s Junior Olympic Volleyball program. The travel volleyball season will span from late December 2008 through April, 2009. Tournaments are played on Saturdays or Sundays, and require an all-day commitment. Teams generally play 1-2 tournaments each month at locations in Virginia, DC and Maryland. One to two practices will be held during weeknights and sometimes on Sunday afternoon at local Alexandria gyms. Travel volleyball is a serious commitment of time and practices are considered mandatory!
The cost of playing will be between $450-$600 for the 2009 season, which includes tournament and registration fees, equipment and gym costs, and uniforms.
