I have read with great interest all the news coverage surrounding Alicia Hughes. It is very disturbing.
I read the article about Republican Vicki Vasques running against Democrat Dave Englin for the 45th District’s seat in the Virginia House of Delegates. I noticed that Vasques was an assistant secretary of education under the worst president in the history of this country, and that she was actively involved in Native American educational affairs.
Dear Mr. Mayor and Members of City Council:
I ask that you do not change our city elections from May to November.
According to the City’s real estate web page, the owner of the property located at 318 N. Fayette Street, has not paid taxes to the city for the past three years.
In attending one of the City Council election forums, I noted that both Republican and independent candidates referred to “machine politics” in Alexandria because members of the present Council all hail from the Democratic Party. Similar statements have been made in the news columns and letters in the local press…
For all of us Alexandria citizens who have taken the time and been “honored” to speak at public meetings of the city council, I would like to say “bravo” and job well done. As we all know, citizens are given 3 minutes to speak, while civic assoc. and other organizations are given 5 minutes. However, it is really disrespectful and rude when we speak, whether we are reading our comments or looking directly at the mayor and council, to see the side bar conversations going on between council members and the mayor.
