Well, taxpayers, this is it. This is the last week for individuals and businesses that owe Virginia back taxes to get square with the Commonwealth. Half of the normal interest charges and all of the penalties are waived for those who pay delinquent taxes by Dec. 5. Those who do not pay during this period will incur an additional 20 percent penalty.

Kaine announced today that Virginia’s Business One Stop, an online tool for entrepreneurs, has been utilized by more than 15,000 entrepreneurs to aid their business operations and create jobs. The Business One Stop is an on-going project through the Virginia Department of Business Assistance and began in May 2008 to consolidate business licensing, registration and permitting into one a single user-friendly online system.
Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced the creation of the Virginia Complete Count Committee (CCC) by Executive Order 99. The Committee will serve as the central conduit of information in Virginia’s efforts to ensure an accurate and comprehensive survey in the 2010 Census. CCC will also facilitate the sharing of ideas and resources between various communities in the Commonwealth.
Today, Virginia Governor Tim Kaine announced that state agencies have reported more than 5900 jobs created or saved from American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds flowing through the State Treasury. To date, more than $5 billion in ARRA contracts, grants and loans have been awarded in Virginia, with more than half in the form of direct aid to localities and organizations outside of state government.
