Two Alexandria men are in custody for the alleged gang-related stabbing of two Fairfax County men. Just before midnight on Friday, May 22, police located two men, 29 and 39 years old, with stab wounds to their upper bodies. The victims were transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital for treatment of their non life-threatening injuries.

After a brief investigation, detectives arrested Atilano T. Malave, 22, of 4515 Holmes Run Parkway and Mohammed Abdel-Elkerim, 25, of 5597 Seminary Road. The pair were charged with assault by mob, gang participation and two counts of malicious wounding. They are being held in the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

The investigation determined there was an altercation between two men in the parking lot. The altercation escalated when friends jumped in to assist. During the fight the two victims, who were innocent bystanders, were stabbed. Three other teenage boys were treated for minor abrasions at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
