Moran Double Knee Surgery A Success

Congressman Jim Moran, Northern Virginia Democrat, had successful total knee replacement surgery on both knees November 24th, at the Anderson Orthopedic Clinic located at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital. The surgery was conducted by specialist Dr. C. Anderson Engh.

A Thanksgiving Tradition

Today, in keeping with the family tradition, I ran the Turkey Trot 5 Miler with my daughters Katie and Rebecca. I have run the race almost every year since moving to Alexandria 16 years ago. For many of the years, the girls stood outside our house, which is at the one mile point in the race and cheered me on while my husband took photos.

Torpedo Factory’s Target Gallery Holiday Season Lineup

The Torpedo Factory Art Center’s Target Gallery kicks of the holiday season with two great exhibitions. Our first ever postcard show, Going Postal, invites all artists to participate and submit original artworks in the format of 4×6″ postcards. This is not a juried competition, all artists can participate, the more the merrier! The postcards will be on view during the Torpedo Factory’s wildly popular Holiday Open House on December 3rd from 6-9pm and remain on view through December 6th.

Alexandria Police Release Composite Sketch Of Robbery Suspect

Alexandria Police are investigating a robbery that occurred in the 300 block of Pendleton Street. On November 14, around 5:15 p.m., a 77-year-old city resident was in his car, backing out of a parking space, when he noticed the suspect approaching him. The victim rolled down his window to talk with the suspect. After talking for a few minutes, the suspect pressed something hard against the victim’s neck and demanded money.
