Passing On A Love Of Exercise

Yesterday I participated in the Girls on the Run Reindeer Romp 5k in Reston. I was the buddy runner for a student from Maury Elementary School where I work. It was fun to be a part of an event that is introducing a lot of girls to the love of running and exercise at an age when they are starting to find out who they are and they can be positively influenced by the adults in their lives.

I was recently in touch with several people who I knew through competitive running over 20 years ago. Two of them are working in the exercise business and hold fun runs for adults. Another friend is a physical therapist who writes a newsletter for a running club. It seems that those of us who love to run, also love to pass it along to others.

Last few days workouts:

Tuesday: spinning class at the YMCA, 1 hour.

Wednesday: 6 mile run

Thursday: Ran to track at TC and did 8x 200 and 4x 400. Total for the day- 7 miles

Friday: Workout at the YMCA, weights and elliptical machine.

Saturday: Ran 3 miles at the Reindeer Romp, then did 3 more when I got home.

Sunday: Ran to meet my friends in Old Town–total 9 miles
