Last Friday night, the Titan basketball teams played their first Patriot District contests against West Springfield. At home, the boys won, 64-35; away, the girls lost, 79-45.
After their disappointing season-opening loss to Hayfield, the boys redeemed themselves in front of an enthusiastic crowd in The Garden. T. C. set the tone early, with 19 points in the first quarter to the Spartans’ single successful free throw. By halftime, the score was Titans 32, Spartans 16.

The only thing that can be said about the Spartans’ second half performance is that they scored two more points, 19, than they did in the first half. The Titans scored 18 points in the third period and 14 in the final quarter.
Senior center Billy Rowland led the way for the Titans with 17 points. Senior forward Ryan Yates contributed 13 and senior guard Cortez Taylor dropped in eight. The Titans will host the Annandale Atoms on Friday, Dec. 18. Game time is 7:45 p.m. On Saturday, Dec. 19, T. C. will host the Parker-Gray Classic, which has been rescheduled from Dec. 5. Annandale will play Norview at 6:00 p.m. followed by T. C. v. Kecoughtan at 8:00 p.m. Former Titan coach Ivan Thomas is now the head coach at Kecoughtan.
