Today, representatives of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, The Congressional Asian and Pacific Americans Caucus, the Congressional Black Caucus and Congressional Progressive Caucus introduced the “Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America’s Security Act and Prosperity” in the House of Representatives.
According to Arturo Muñoz of Tenants and Workers United, ACIR-A.S.A.P outlines a progressive vision for immigration reform. “We can’t wait any longer. Too many communities suffer from families divided and workers abused under the current broken immigration system. Today, we moved in the right direction,” he said. “Virginians need reform that is just, humane and finally puts us back on the road to economic recovery.”
Lucero Beebe-Giudice of Tenants and Workers United agreed.”Hope is alive in our community today as our leaders have delivered on their promise to introduce a bill in time for the holiday recess. Now it’s up to the Senate. We urge them to act fast. Most Americans want practical solutions to our broken immigration system that uphold American values and our traditions as a nation of immigrants and laws. We want a fair immigration system that can serve the real interests of hardworking taxpayers, workers, employers and families across America,” she said.
People all over the country are organizing to pass comprehensive immigration reform. Last month, at least 60,000 Americans participated in more than 1000 house parties in 45 states. Many have texted “justice” or “justicia” to 69866 to become connected to the Reform Immigration for America campaign. They have also called 1-866-974-8813 to tell the White House to pass comprehensive immigration reform this year.
