Paul Antonio Calva, 44, of Arlington, was found dead in his cell at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center last night. He was arrested on Saturday at Fair Oaks Mall and was charged with two counts of unlawful filming, videotaping, or photographing of another after allegedly video taping a woman in the dressing room of a specialty store.

On Friday evening, a 20-year-old woman was in the dressing room when she heard a noise, looked down and noticed a bag with a hole in it, under the door of her dressing room. When she realized there was a camera in the bag, she opened the door and saw a man carrying the bag, run from the dressing room area. She notified store management, who then called the police. A description of the suspect was provided to officers assigned specifically to the mall.

On Saturday, in the same store, mall officers arrested Calvan, who matched the description of the suspect. A video camera was also recovered.

At around midnight on Sunday, December 14, a deputy made a routine check of Calvan’s cell and found no irregularities. Approximately 12 minutes later, Calvan was discovered with a bed sheet around his neck, and the other end of the sheet tied to a metal grate in the cell door. Authorities entered the cell, untied the sheet, and immediately began CPR. o Calvan was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital and was pronounced dead at 9:56 p.m.

No foul play is suspected, but Fairfax County Police Department crime scene technicians and detectives are investigationg the death. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, December 16.
