A hit-and-run driver caused a school bus accident that sent five students to the hospital.

At 11:30 these morning, Alexandria police were called to the intersection of W. Braddock Road and N. Beauregard Street to investigate an accident involving an Alexandria City Public School bus. Witnesses said that a white Honda struck the bus from behind in an attempt to avoid another car that was driving erratically. That car, described as a red Honda with unknown Virginia tags, fled the scene.

Paramedics took five students to the hospital with injuries that were described as “not serious.” The bus was carrying students from Jefferson-Houston Elementary School who were on a field trip. Neither the driver of the bus nor the driver of the white Honda was injured.
